Elevation

I’m a person that’s not fond of heights.  Notice the choice of words that I used.  I didn’t say afraid or a fear of heights.  The reason is that God has not given us the Spirit of fear but power, love, and a sound mind.  Whenever I’m out sightseeing and can go to a higher elevation for a better view, I don’t hesitate to go.  Now, when I’m up there, that’s a different story.  I keep my eyes straight on the view or look at the sky.

If I take my mind off my focus point or look down, I instantly think of falling to my destruction.  It doesn’t take a second for me to change my focus and quickly look up.  How many can relate to what I’m saying?  If so, think about life on those same terms.

The first point; don’t be afraid to step out on faith.  Keep your eyes on your focus point, no matter your doubts or fear of failing.

Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

The second point is, don’t look down.  What I mean is don’t get discouraged. Don’t let the test of life discourage or stop you from reaching all that God has for you. “But, he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.”  During the test, keep your mind stayed on God.  Elevate yourself in prayer, fasting, and God’s word.  I know it sounds simple.  But, when you’re going through a trial, it’s so easy to get defeated in your mind.  How many know that is a tactic of the enemy?  He uses his limited power to play with your emotions and plant lies in your mind.  John 8:44 tells us that “when he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar and the father of it.” For every negative thought you have, speak life into it.

Speak the opposite.  Always remember that death and life are in the power of the tongue.  Speak with authority over your life.  Depression, NO, progression.  Anxiety, NO, I’m a part of a higher society.

Ephesians 1:5 having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will.  Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people…

(KJV)

Low self-esteem, NO, pushing toward my dream.  Useless, NO, letting God use me.  Rebuke and bind all negative thoughts.  Whatsoever you bind on earth should be bound in heaven.  Philippines 4:8

The third point, when God elevates you, remember to stay humble and give God the glory and the praise.  Take no credit for yourself.  Proverbs 16:18-19, Pride goeth before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.  Better it is to be of a humble spirit with the lowly than to divide the spoil with the proud.  When you are blessed, be a blessing to someone else.  As Joel Osteen said, true success is when you reach back and bring somebody with you.

How can you have the means and not be willing to help your brothers and sisters that are genuinely in need?   Where is your love?  Is it the money or God’s children?  Remember these words; it’s more blessed to give than to receive.

In summary, don’t let fear keep you from being elevated.  Rebuke thoughts of deception (the lies).  Keep your mind focused, understanding that God can do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think, according to the powers that work in us. Ephesians 3:20
